We have been wanting to get away from Comcast digital cable for a long time. The issue is they give you a great combo with their bundles that include telepone, internet, and cable television service. When you need to remove one, you lose the discounts of the bundle.

But the cable TV service just needs to go, as the channel selection and quality is well below average. There is so much talk these days about hi def, there isn’t much selection with Charter cable television. So I began researching who else was available in my neck of the woods.

The phone company in my neighborhood has been altering their network. So I have an additional player with Verizon and their fiber optic service.

If the service is good, customers will be pleased. But if its not you are in the same circumstance that I’m in now with the cable operator.

Because it is new, there is sometimes a learning curve with a new technology like this, and some folks share their bad reviews. Another way to go that I’m looking into is of course satellite TV. Since we have four TV watchers in the house, we usually buy a high end TV package. The satellite companies are pretty comparable, as the DirecTV Premier package and the America’s Everything Pak by Dish Network are each about $100 per month. Yes that’s fairly high for cable TV, but if you make the comparison with taking your family to dinner and a movie, the entertainment value is comparable.
