Cheltenham Spa: What to see and do in Cheltenham
The town of Cheltenham lies to the east of Bristol and aouth of Birmingham and is within easy reach of the cities of Swindon and Oxford. Plus if you are looking to explore some of the wonderful countryside around that makes up the Cotswold Hills.
But, in Cheltenham Spa there are plenty of attractions to look at when you stay in this historic town.
1. Cheltenham Racecourse Hall of Fame – This traces the history of steeple chasing right the way back to 1819. You can trace through the history of the Gold Cup, one of National Hunt racing’s premier races, but you can also find out how Cheltenham has become an Irish stronghold in the world of racing. It also takes a look at the many trainers and riders who over the years have played a major part in the history of this course.
2. Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway – Steam trains run almost every weekend during the summer between Toddington, Winchcombe and Cheltenham. At other times of the year, the railway runs special events which both young and old alike can enjoy.
3. The Holst Museum – This terraced Victorian building has had its kitchen restored and in it you will be able to look at many items that date back to the time of the composer of “The Planets”. Spend time not just learning about the composers life as a child and also his later years and look at the very piano on which he composed his music together with a collection of his musical scores.
4. The Pittville Pump Room – This grand building is often used as the symbol of the town and is the jewel of its Regency architecture. It overlooks the lawns and ornamental lakes of Pittville Park and gives an insight into life in Cheltenham when it was a spa town. If you are feeling brave then you have the opportunity to taste the unpleasant waters which originally brought fame to the town for their supposed ability to cure all sorts of diseases.
5. Sandford Park Open Air Pool – This is one of the UK’s biggest outdoor pools and is surrounded by landscaped gardens. Not only is there the main pool which measures 50 meters but there is also a children’s pool plus a paddling pool All the pools are heated during the summer season. If you want to stay dry or relax after your swim, you can also play table tennis, basketball and volleyball on site.
6. St Mary’s Church – Cheltenham’s oldest building and was built in the middle of the 11th Century. It displays the Royal Coat of Arms and this was to commemorate the visit made by George III in 1788. Another feature which many enjoy is the 14th Century rose window, a canopied piscine and lierne vaulting of the baptistery. The church also is home to many memorials of Cheltenham’s most famous citizens.
Next time you visit Cheltenham, make sure to check the Cheltenham hotels and guest houses listed here.
Just keeping up with the competition. Lexus IS 250
Lexus is a name that is very easy on the tongue and seems that it took some long and hard effort to coin it. It sounds perfect and perhaps too perfect to the point of being unable to evoke real driver emotion.
The IS 250 range is the entry level model which hopes to compete directly against the German offerings BWM 3 series, Mercedes C class and Audi A4. Although the IS has been around since 1998 and is only in its second generation, it has done a steady job technically and does not lag behind the big three.
All in all there are three main choices for the IS range namely IS250 (153 KW) , IS 220d (130 KW) and the IS350(228 kW). Other models are the performance version IS F (V8 311 KW) and the convertibles(IS250 C and IS 350C).
South Africa has at present only the IS range with pricing starting at R328 900.00 (manual) with the most expensive model being R410 700.00 (SE auto). In general the IS250 is a good car and technically perfect as it was indented but for some reason the human elements seem to have been left behind.
Firstly the engine options for the IS250. The entry R328 900.00 price is arguably okay for a 153kw engine but how would Lexus justify paying R420 000 for exactly the same engine?
Furthermore the difference to put it in very simple terms between the models costing R330 000.00 and R420 000.00 is really just extras for comfort and convenience. These are better headlamps, Electronic Multi Vision display with dvd navigation, seat heating, park distance control, Mark Levinson digital surround audio system, memory for seats and steering configuration. These gadgets that come as extras in other models are welcome but buyers must still be afforded more powerful engines?
Besides the odd(in my opinion) pricing arrangement, the rear seats are also a little too cramped. In fact some owners of the car feel the IS range is overall noticeably smaller than its German competitors.
Finally the looks. It is a little difficult to distunguish the IS 250 as more prestigious than say a Mazda 6. This is where things get odd for the Lexus IS. If the car was launched without the L badge it would be a little difficult to identify it as a competitor to the 3 series or C-class never mind as a Lexus. The car looks too sporty and with very little hints towards elegance and seriousness.
No one disputes that the car is of great build quality and realibility and looks sportish enough. Normally people would expect at least a power increase if paying close R100 000 more on the base model. And normally people expect that a car costing up to R430 000 would have enough interior space. And finally people expect a car at this price range to look the part without needing its badge.
Lexus has developed a range within the best of their ability yet they are yet to create an IS so appealing that buyers cannot resist.
Learn about Thermopastic Injection Molding
Approximately 30% of all plastic products in the world are produced by an injection molding Prototyping process. Within this another 30% are produced using a custom injection molding Prototyping technology. You can count many different steps in the injection process but a normal injection molding process usually has 6 steps. One of the three units of the molding machine is the clamping unit and this is one of the first steps where you clamp the mold. The other two being the injection unit and the mold, once the clamping unit holds on to the mold, the molten plastic is injected into the mold by the injection unit. The plastic is fed in the form of tiny pellets onto a hopper. These are then allowed into a cylinder where they are heated into a molten state and injected into the mold. The steps that follow are referred to as dwelling phase. Rapid Prototyping basically involves making sure all the cavities in the mold are fully filled. With the clamping still intact, the mold is then allowed to cool. Finally the mold is opened and the component is ejected out. The biggest advantage of plastic injection molding is the cost factor of the produced parts, especially when you need large number of parts. The disadvantage is the cost of manufacturing the molds; a simple injection mold can cost you $3000 while the bigger complex ones can run into several hundreds of thousands.
Rapid Prototyping: Using a process called solid freeform fabrication, rapid prototyping does automated manufacturing of physical components. They are used in a wide range of applications, everything from medical to fine art. Rapid Prototyping machine works by taking virtual models from software and then converting it into extremely thin, horizontal cross-sections and then goes onto create each of the cross-section in physical space in a cyclic manner until the model is completed. Rapid Prototyping is a WYSIWYG process in which the virtual model bears identical resemblance to the finished physical model. Additional fabrications allows the machine to lay down layers of sheet, liquid or powder material and build up a series of cross-sections These layers are finally automatically fused together to render the final product. The main advantage of rapid prototyping is the ability to create any shape no matter how complex the geometry is. The commonly used data interface between the machine and the software is the STL format. It works by approximating the geometry of a part using triangular facets, smaller the facets higher will be the surface quality. The word “rapid” is used relative top conventional methods which take days to construct a model depending upon its complexity. Rapid prototyping can create the model within a few hours, though it is highly dependent of the type of machines and the size of the model. There have been several new technologies available for rapid prototyping including Fused Deposition Modeling, Selective laser sintering, 3D printing, and Electron Beam Melting.
Prototyping Injection Molding is a specialized method of combining traditional plastic injection molding. CAM software are able to combine rapid tooling and plastic injection molding in order to quickly create small quantities of any thermoplastic part.

A Titanium Wedding Ring is Made to Last
The word titanium brings to mind images of strength and durability. What better symbol for the devotion and commitment of a wedding ring could there be? This metal, while seemingly so common, has extraordinary properties that make it a perfect base for engagement and wedding rings.
Titanium is among the strongest metals. A large amount of force is needed in order for a titanium ring to get bent out of shape. For example, a gold wedding ring is far more likely to be damaged if you slam the car door on your hand. You might be able to scratch it, but it won’t be easy. A little polishing and it will look like new again.
Yet, despite this hardness, wearers need have no concerns about being unable to remove a titanium ring in an emergency. In extreme circumstances, a gold ring can be bent out of shape and create painful pressure on the finger. That’s less likely with a titanium wedding ring. But if it should happen, the ring can be cut off just as any other.
The aerospace industry and similar leading edge manufacturing sectors use titanium because of its incredible strength. But there’s another: it’s ultra-light, about 1/3 the weight of gold. Many enjoy the feathery feel of a titanium ring. It sits lightly on the hand and presents no resistance to moving the finger. This is a real bonus for those who spend a lot of time using a keyboard.
As well, titanium is hypoallergenic and can be worn constantly with no worries about skin conditions. They won’t irritate the skin at all. Titanium is a benign material, and is employed in numerous medical situations such as hip implants.
There’s more to titanium engagement and wedding rings than just their practicality, however. They’re also stunning in appearance.
Natural titanium is a grayish metal, similar to stainless steel only brighter. It can be polished to a bright sheen and can be made into intricate designs because of its strength. Those attributes can produce an elegant and unique piece of jewellery. During the manufacturing process, it can also be treated so it becomes a shining black in color. Be sure, though, to get a genuine black titanium ring, not one that has merely been coated and will have to be retreated.
Men especially like the edgy style that comes with this alternative wedding ring material. By mixing the black and gray kinds you get more of a design range. The end result is an outstanding wedding band that is extremely lightweight as well as distinct and fashionable.
Think about the distinctive appearance and image of your wedding ring. Remember, you’re unique. Shouldn’t your ring be too?
Flexible Manufacturing, Rapid Manufacturing, Direct Manufacturing
Rapid Prototyping can be described as an ‘Additive Fabrication Technique’ to manufacture solid objects through the chronological delivery of material and/or energy to precise points in the space for producing that part. At present, the practice of controlling the process of manufacturing with the help of computer by making use of mathematical model that has been created through the computer’s aid is being followed. Rapid manufacturing, if done with the help of Parallel Batch Production is capable of providing a huge advantage in terms of cost and speed in comparison with alternative techniques of manufacturing like die casting or Plastic Injection Molding.
Origin: Rapid Manufacturing process was first demonstrated at The AUTO FACT show. The venue was Detroit, MI. The year was 1987. This novel creation was done by a company called 3D Systems Company. The technologies available now are inclusive of processes such as Laminated Object Manufacturing, Shape Deposition Manufacturing, and Selective Laser Sintering.
The present scenario: Rapid Manufacturing might involve replacement parts, custom parts, series production, or Short Run Production. This process can be referred to as Rapid Prototyping only if the use of the part is for development. Rapid Manufacturing carried out for big products with Layer-based Manufacturing from composite materials, plastics, or metals is widely used for numerous industrial applications pertaining to aerospace (Boeing) and military (MPH-Optomec) sectors. Micro system applications and small products are well known in medicines, sensor technologies (micro TEC), and diagnostics. Batch production regarding tiny parts by techniques of rapid manufacturing like RMPD give vent to advantages related to time and cost.
Now days, collectibles, consumer products, orthodontics, dentistry, jewelry, motor sports, and automotives are being experimented with rapid manufacturing. Amazing results are expected in future. The world economy is becoming competitive day by day. As customer demands have increase, manufacturers everywhere are tyring to deliver customized products faster than ever before. A late delivery or development might could mean failure of business. Rapid manufacturing has been devised with the objective of shortening the production cycle and design, and promising to revolutionize the age-old manufacturing procedures.
The initial process: Before starting with the construction of product, a prototype or sample is required quite often as a portion of design cycle, for allowing evaluation, testing, or demonstration of proposed product. This process is iterative, as a chain of prototypes gets built up. These prototypes can then be used for testing various options.
Rapid Manufacturing is also inclusive of rapid application of tools needed for production on a large scale, like jigs, dies, and specially shaped molds. Several Layer manufacturing Processes are being developed now, by making use of a wide range of materials. So far the parts that have been created seem to be very durable. The size has also been increasing. Due to all these successes, layer manufacturing is the most sought after technique for fabricating the parts for functional prototypes as well as production tools. Rapid Tooling is where you apply layer manufacturing for making components that are used in production. It is being applied to investment casting, injection molding, and many processes related to mold casting.

Reasonably Priced Holiday Gift Ideas
The holiday season is possibly the most financially difficult time of the year. Nonetheless, there are many ways to come across affordable Christmas presents.
Craft It
If you are crafty or possess any special abilities, you can craft a present. For instance, if you sew you can make the person a quilt. If you’re a closet poet or jingle writer, write a limerick or song about the person. Sing or read the song or poem and have the original framed.
Coupon
A hand made coupon book might be a a well loved Christmas gift. Make unique coupons for doing errands, organizing, and clean-up for the person. You could propose to arrange their pictures into albums, do a week’s worth of dishes, or clean their room. If the recipient is a spouse you might present romantic delights such as foot rubs and date nights. A certificate book can be put together by printing off blank coupons that can be located on the web and put together with staples or ribbon.
Gift Baskets
If you’re searching for a gift for an entire family, and don’t have an idea what they like, a gift basket might be the perfect answer. You can fill a reasonably priced basket with homemade cookies or muffins, packs of cocoa mix, coffee mugs, and ripened fruit. You may also want to think about garden decor gifts such as bird houses, bird feeders, or outdoor sculptures. A youngster may enjoy a gift basket full of treats from the thrift store. Some ideas could include chalk, rubber balls, jump ropes, balloons, multicolored windmills, teddy bears, play dough, and sweets.
Teen girls may appreciate a gift basket that might include burettes, clips, combs, lip gloss, nail polish, and a magazine or two. A new mother may like a gift basket consisting of soothing bath gels, foot creams, and essential oils. If you have the means, add a gift certificate to a health spa, beauty salon, or a department store. The main thing is that you include thoughtful Holiday gift ideas that take into consideration what the person enjoys.
Treasure Chests
Children like getting treasures, so why not give them a treasure chest? This X-Mas present idea is relatively straightforward and you can incorporate items from dollar stores, online stores, and even your own closet. To begin, find a box with a safety lid. It could be a decorated plastic tub, cardboard box, or an actual trunk. Next, select a theme. If your theme is dress-up, you could load the trunk with necklaces, hats, old clothing, play wands and swords, boots, ribbons, and flags. Other theme ideas include pirates, royalty, knights, animals, astronauts, or aliens.
As you can see, with a little thought you can find unique X-Mas gift ideas that are reasonably low cost. All it takes is a little bit of research to find out what the recipient’s interests are, if you don’t already know what they are, and a trip to the local dollar store. Don’t forget, it’s the thought that matters.
How To Create Your Own Original Necklace
Have you ever thought about creating your own personalised jewellery. Maybe playing with beads when you were younger but have never touched them since. Necklaces particularly are very easy to make and with just a litle thought can look either funky or elegant and appropriate in both cases to the rest of the outfit you are wearing.
First let us decide what to make the necklace from. You can buy semiprecious stones such as jade, amber or other semiprecious jewels already polished and with holes in them ready to string. Or you can start from scratch. If you live near the sea, or go on holiday there, you can wander along the shore and look for stones, it is amazing what you can find, although you are unlikely to find anything truly valuable. However, this sort of jewellery is not about value, it’s about looks that complement your outfit.
Next, polish your stones. This can be time consuming. Start with a rough abrasive to get the basic shape and take the roughness off and gradually polish with softer abrasives and cloths until you finally get the finish you want. Do not hurry this process, the longer you spend at this, the better the final jewel is likely to be.
Now you need to drill your stones so that you may string them together. Many tools are available for this – the most obvious one being the miniature drills used by model makers. Line your beads up before drilling them so that you know exactly where to drill and again take care. Having invested all the time and effort into polishing your stones, it would be foolish to break or scratch them at this stage.
Next to string your beads. The best thing to use for this is jewellers thread, although other threads could also be employed. Be careful, though, sewing cotton and the like will be too soft and will break and fishing line is to hard and may cut its way through your beads – and your neck if you are not careful. Make sure you place the beads exactly as you want them before tying the thread. You can thread the beads a number of times before finishing the knot, but once that knot is finished it will be difficult to change without starting over with a new piece of thread.
By taking your time, and being creative it is possible to make some really personalised articles of jewellery. I know somebody who pierced orange pips to make a necklace – it looks great. Try carving and polishing small pieces of coal, it looks just like jet, with little or no cost. It won’t last long, but this sort of jewellery is not meant to be an heirloom.
Home Foundry Information Described
The Do It Yourself movement is certainly not a new one. The term, DIY was popularized in the 1950s but the concept has been around for ages. The concept behind DIY is undertaking a variety of projects either home improvement, restoration, or arts and craft without the help of paid professionals.
Recently the DIY movement has received a boost of popularity with the aid of the internet. Many are finding that DIY projects are easier to undertake with the help of instructional websites which provide step by step instructions and real advice from people who have actually accomplished the DIY process. Several of these sites provide ideas, photos, message boards, and a sense of community for Do It Yourselfers that was simply not available years ago.
Do It Yourself projects really have no boundaries and can be anything your mind can create. Certainly the most common projects include home improvement such as cabinetry or installing plumbing fixtures, but one of the oldest DIY projects has to be metal casting.
The DIY casting movement has been around ever since metal casting itself has been around, which is quite some time. Metal casting is the act of taking molten metal and shaping it with the use of molds into something new. Metal casting has been used in the ancient world for the use of making weapons, jewelry, and even religious icons. As far as your mind can think is really how different DIY metal casting parts are used for everyday life. This includes home improvement items as well. Metal casting can be used to make door knobs, cabinet handles, and other such items. There are a lot of DIYers out there that can make small model parts and minatures of larger parts because of this hobby. Even artists use metal casting for sculptures and jewelry creation.
Metal casting possesses the true spirit of Do It Yourself. Many metal casters are drawn to the skill because it provides a cheap alternative to purchasing items or having commercial foundries make custom items. Nearly everything used in metal casting can be made by the caster. The furnace, molds, tools, and many others are made by most casters.
Like other DIY projects, the DIY casting movement is being helped along my communities that are found online. These communities act as meeting grounds for casters to share and exchange knowledge and ideas, not to mention blueprints for furnaces and ingredients for casting materials.
Metal casting is the pinnacle of DIY projects as it involves the fabrication of items from metal. What happens first is that the mold needs to be made of the item that the caster wants to create and then the caster will melt down the appropriate metal of his choice. The molten alloy is poured into the mold and allowed to cool. The cast is removed to reveal a copy of the original pattern. There are several casting methods so undertaking a DIY casting project can be very involved and addicting.
In the spirit of DIY, metal casters strive to make the best for the least. A great source for aluminum is soda cans and many casters gladly travel to scrap yards for iron or brass.
The DIY casting movement is really gaining steam as many realize how cheap and fun this alternative is.

The Top 5 Handbag Designers
Who would fail to fall in love with the charm of the famous designer purses? It is not surprising why many women are crazy fantasizing these lovely purses. Who would not want a purse that is not only of high quality, but a purse that would boost out your confidence and make everyone look up at you?
There are numerous designer purses that are available in the market, but only a few has been able to establish its brand and created influence to many consumers. Some women are totally taken by them and it’s the heartbeat of their desire.
When designer fashion is discussed, the name Prada is almost always included. Ask around, survey a few people and ask them what designer purses they know, and you’ll see that they would not fail to include Prada handbags in the list. Long before, Prada was not a household name than it is now. Way back 1913, Prada was established in Milan, Italy by Mario Prada, and his products were leather items for men. During that time, it failed to catch the attention of consumers. It was when he died when Prada became a popular brand, through the efforts of his daughter-in-law. And now, the Prada handbag had become a fashion icon for people of all ages and gender. Prada has become a brand name that anyone would love to buy.
Another famous brand is Louis Vuitton. Similar to Prada, it hadn’t had much charm to buyers for a long time. Created by a French man named Louis Vuitton, the brand was never successful up until his son took over. His son decided to bring the brand to the United States, and fortunately has eventually penetrated the fashion market. The success of the brand was partly through endorsement, when actress Audrey Hepburn carried a Louis Vuitton in her movie Charade.
Another brand that is known by everyone is Chanel, which has uses a “CC” trademark. House of Chanel was established way back 1910. The designer started out by introducing into the market a completely new product – clothing that is more appropriate to women, such as sportswear for women. And unlike Prada and Louis Vuitton, its success as a brand was faster. In just two years, it gained positive remarks and became popular in France. Over time, the company began producing other products including jewelry, purses, perfume, and handbags. While other brands were mainly created by men, the Coco Chanel designer brand was created and designed by a woman.
One of the famous designer purses available is Gucci. Gucci is popularly known for its quality and elegant designs – a designer purse that every woman would love to collect. Founded in 1906 by Guccio Gucci, the designs were formerly intended for leather items. And soon, it became a recognizable brand name.
And while you’re looking for a popular designer purse, Chloe can’t be off the scene. Chloe is known for its style, innovation, and most loved by the youth.
